Bhadrotsav is one of the important festivals of the Brahmos. It commemorates the day when the first Brahmo Samaj was opened by Raja Ram Mohan Roy on 20th August 1828.
This was opened on a rented house belonging to Feranghee Kamal Bose and accommodated the first atheistic congregation. It is also noted that other Brahmo Samajes were also opened in this particular month of the year.
