Bengali Market

Bengali Mal Market

Bengali Market is the oldest market located close to the Connaught Place in the center of New Delhi city. It was built by Bengali Mal Lohia in 1930. The market is famous for its typical chaat varieties, the uniquely North Indian street-side snack foods.

Bengali Market has excellent photo studios, readymade garment shops, bakeries, gift shops, dry cleaning shops, clinics, book shops, grocery shops, and stalls for fresh fruits and vegetables.

Also known by the name Bengali Mal Market, it has branches of three nationalized banks. Bengali Sweet House, and Bengali Pastry Shop and Snack Bar are two famous sweet shops here.

At a stone’s throw from the market is Le Meridien Hotel and Janpath Hotel offering comfortable accommodation. Kamani Auditorium, Bharatiya Kala Kendra and Ravindra Bhawan are some among the cultural centers nearby.

Bengali Market is a mere 1 km from New Delhi Railway Station and 3 km from Chandni Chowk.
