Belliric Myrobalan, known as Vibhitaki in
Sanskrit, is a tall tree with characteristic bark. The stem is straight, frequently buttressed. The leaves are generally elliptic, clustered towards the ends of the branches. The flowers are solitary with axillary spikes. The nut is stony.
The fruit, green and inflated, has myocardial depressive activity. It is useful in dropsy, piles and diarrhea. Karshaphala, Kalidruma, and Bahera are its other names.
