Barakar



Barakar is located on the north-western side of Bardhaman District in West Bengal, which forms the boundary with the Jharkhand. It is 250 km north-west of Kolkata.

The main attraction of the place is the Barakar Temples, built in the north Indian Rekha style between 8th and 5th centuries. The town is a transit point to several tourist places in Dhandad, Dumka and Giridh districts of Jharkhand.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and Ranchi Airport are the nearest airports. Barakar Railway Station is on the Asansol-Dhanbad line. Grand Trunk Road ( National Highway 2) passes through Barakar. Asansol is around 20 km from Barakar.
