Badarayana was a scholar and saint who lived around the second century BC. He is the author of the Brahma Sutras/Vedanta Sutras (one of the fundamental texts on Vedanta philosophy). Sharirka- sutra, Shariraka- mimamsa-sutra, Vedanta- sutra, Uttara-mimamsa-sutra and Bhiksu-sutra are the other texts credited to him.
Badarayana's work was accepted and given great importance during early days and was equated with Srutis. He lived during the time of Jaimini, author of Mimamsa Sutra.
