Atis belongs to the family Ranunculaceae and is found in alpine and subalpine zone of the
Himalayas from Indus to
Kumaon, up to altitudes of 6000-15000 ft.
It is considered antipyretic, antiperiodic, aphrodisiac, astringent and tonic. The herb is used in diarrhea, indigestion, cough and troubles during dentition in children. Propagation is by seeds in rainy season.
