Asian Koel (Eudynamys scolopacea) is a member of the cuckoo family. It is about 39 to 46 cm in length. The male has a remarkable shiny black plumage, tinged with blue and green and scarlet eyes. The female has smooth brown upperparts, heavily speckled with white and a black crown. The bird is a brood parasite and is arboreal. Its flight is straight and swift with rapid wing beats.
Asian Koel feeds on a variety of insects, caterpillars, eggs and small vertebrates.
Asian Koel can be seen in the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, Haryana.
