Aruvippuram




Aruvippuram is situated at a distance of 24 km from the beautiful city of Thiruvananthapuram. It is an important pilgrimage centre. The place has a beautiful waterfall. The temple of Lord Shiva is the main attraction. This temple has great historical and social significance. At a time when tradition strictly allowed only Brahamins to install deities, a non- Brahmin, the great social reformer Sree Narayana Guru ventured to do it breaking the centuries old Brahmin monopoly. Shivratri is the main festival celebrated in the temple. Thousands of devotees gather here to take part in the celebration.
