Arni is a medium-sized tree having a white, moderately close-grained wood used for rafters. Two varieties are recognized, Premna integrifolia (Arni) and Premna serratifolia (Takli).
The roots of the plant possess analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is used to cure boils and colic pain.
It is also known as Agnimantha and Takli.
