Angul




Angul, the administrative headquarters of the Angul District, is a beautiful town flanked by hillocks. It is situated 160 km northwest of Bhubaneswar.

Angul assumed prominence with the establishment of National Aluminum Company Ltd. (NALCO), which is the largest in Asia. It is also a prominent center for trade and agriculture in the district.

For a tourist, Angul serves as an ideal base for visiting places in the neighborhood. Places of tourist interest include Talcher, Tikarpada and Banarpal.

Angul is a major road junction on National Highway 42 and has regular bus services to Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal (120 km), Talcher (20 km), Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Rourkela, Raipur and Durgapur. The town is also a prominent railhead on the South Eastern Railway. Nearest airport is at Bhubaneswar.
