Ananta Gumpha

Ananta Gumpha or Snake Cave, significant of the Khandagiri Caves, is located at Bhubaneswar in Orissa. This cave has beautifully carved figures of athletes, women, elephants and geese. The images of twin serpants, remarkable for its superb ornamentation, have lively friezes including boys chasing lions, bulls and other animals. Goddess Lakshmi in a lotus pool, bathed by two elephants, is another notable attraction. From here, the right path leads to a series of Jain temples.
