Amar Kutir is located 15 km from
Shantiniketan in
Birbhum District. It is a cooperative that produces leather goods, Kantha stitched saris, bamboo crafts and batik at a reasonable price.
The cooperative, Amar Kutir Society for Rural Development, established in 1978, is an organization built to promote the village arts and crafts. Founded by Rabindranath Tagore , it was formerly an ashram for political prisoners who were released from the colonial British jails.
