Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is also called Kumari in Sanskrit. Aloe is one of the few non-narcotic plants. It can be used externally on wounds, haemorrhoids and ulcers. A first aid remedy for minor burns, cuts, scalds and sunburns, Aloe Vera contains various compounds such as bradykinase, salicylic acid, and magnesium lactate that reduce inflammation and swelling of wounds.

Aloe gel is a tonic for the liver and spleen. It reduces Pitta and regulates sugar and fat metabolism. It also cures peptic ulcers and regulates the monthly cycle of women. Aloe is not recommended internally during the menstrual period, pregnancy and breast-feeding, and by those suffering from kidney diseases and haemorrhoids.

Aloe Vera needs only a little water to grow but cannot tolerate poor drainage and cold temperature.
