Launched in 1987, Alleppey Tourism Development Co-operative Society (ATDC) is one of the leading backwater tour operators in
Kerala. It was the first co-operative in the state for promoting tourism. ATDC's office is situated on Komala Road in
Alappuzha.
ATDC offers houseboat services, luxury cruises and back water tours. It organizes daily backwater tours, from Alappuzha to Kollam, during September-March. ATDC also arranges cultural performances, snake boat races and elephant march for the tourist groups.
Alappuzha Railway Station and Alappuzha Bus Station are the nearest railhead and bus station respectively. Cochin International Airport is about 86 km north of Alappuzha.
