India
Akbar II
After the death of Shah Alam in 1806, his son Akbar II succeeded to the throne. He was a king only by name, and was the head of the royal establishment in the Red fort of Delhi. During his reign, the British established a strong foothold in India. The Mughal king had little authority and was treated as a pensioner of the East India Company. After his death in 1837, he was succeeded by his son Bahadur Shah Safar. Bahadur Shah Safar is considered as the last Mughal emperor in India.
