Akaltara is a small town in
Janjgir-Champa District and is situated about 32 km west of
Janjgir. The town is located about 12 km north of Pamgarh and about 45 km west of
Champa.
Bilaspur, one of the major cities of the state with great tourist importance, is at a distance of about 42 km. National Highway 200 passes nearby.
The nearest airport is at Raipur. Akaltara Railway Station is on the Bilaspur - Champa rail route.
