Ahmad Baksh Gama




Ahmad Baksh Gama, also known as Gama Pehalwan, was fond of wrestling since his childhood. He was born in Datiya, Madhya Pradesh. By the age of 20, he defeated almost all national level wrestlers.

In 1910, a wrestling match was organized for the award of the title "Rustam-e-Hind". Gama defeated all other wrestlers and earned the title. Gama's last match was with J C Peterson whom he defeated in 45 seconds.

Gama wrestled for many years and always turned victorious. One of his greatest qualities was that he was very friendly in nature. Indian wrestling owes its popularity to Gama. He passed away in Lahore on May 22, 1960.
