Abhidhamma Pitaka is the term given to a group of highly revered texts belonging to the
Buddhist canonical literature. These texts capture the evolution and development of various schools of Buddhist teachings, during the three centuries following
Buddha’s death. Texts belonging to each of these schools were grouped into the collection. The Abhidhamma Pitaka texts contain a comprehensive approach to the quasi-scientific model of mind, which is on par with any modern theories related to the mind.
Abhidhamma Pitaka forms the third division of Tipitaka (three baskets of the doctrine). The first two are Vinaya Pitaka and Sutta Pitaka. The third division consists of 7 texts; Dhammasangani, Vibhanga, Dhatukatha, Puggalapannatti, Kathavatthu, Yamaka and Patthana.
