A V Sankaran




Professor Athipotta Variem Sankaran, popularly known as A V Sankaran was a scholar, voracious reader, columnist and above all, an excellent teacher. Born in Palakkad district on January 12, 1925, he was educated in St. Thomas College, Thrissur and Maharaja's College, Ernakulam. He got the Masters Degree in Sanskrit from Madras University and another Masters in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Kerala.

He wrote a great book in Sanskrit named "Theerthapadapuranam" based on the life of Paramabhataraka Vidyadhiraja Sri Theerthapaada Chattambiswami, which contain 60,000 slokas. He was awarded the Hemalathasmaraka Sri Chattambiswami Sahithya Puraskaram, for the year 1994. A V Sankaran passed away at the age of 76.
