There is an interesting story behind the naming of this place. It is said that Chaitanya Mahaprabhu visited this place when Goddess Parvati was meditating. Parvati took some soil from Lord Chaitanya’s feet and put them on her simanta (the part in the hair). Thus, the place was named Simantadvipa.
Sinmanta Devi Temple, Bilva puskarini and Brahmana puskarini are the major attractions. Visitors can easily access Simantadvipa from Mayapur, which is connected by road from Krishnanagar and Kolkata. Nearest railheads are at Navadvipa and Krishnanagar.
