Karnasubarna

Karnasubarna is an ancient town located near Murshidabad in Murshidabad District, once the capital of King Gaureshwar Sasanka. Main attraction is a Buddhist Vihar, built in memory of Lord Buddha who stayed here for seven days. Emperor Ashoka also built a stupa to commemorate Buddha. Apart from this, Karnasubarna houses a jail, Berhampore court, and a barrack field where Robert Clive and Warren Hastings had lived.
