Sonamukhi




Sonamukhi is a town located in Bankura District of West Bengal. The name of the place was derived from the word Sonamukhi, which means ‘Gold Faced.’ The place holds a temple. The face of the presiding deity is covered with gold. This town is one among the three principal centers of Bankura pottery. It specializes in the making of different varieties of mother dolls.

Sonamukhi is about 135 km from Kolkata. Bankura railway station is 8 km away. Accommodations are available in nearby hotels.
