Bolpur


Bolpur is a town in Birbhum District of West Bengal. The town was renowned for its large trade center. In ancient times it was known as Balipur. Suratheshwar Shiva temple and Muni Kunda are situated near Bolpur.

It is the nearest town and railhead from Kolkata.

Bolpur is 160 km from Howrah by road and 39 km by train from Khana junction of the Eastern Railway. Kolkata airport is near to Bolpur.
