Formerly known as Beerkul, Digha is a seaside town near
Kolkata. The place is famous for a hard
beach, where one can have bathes during low tides.
An extension of Digha, New Digha has a small park and a lake. From Digha places such as Shankarpur (14 km), Chandaneshwar (8 km) and Junput Beach (40 km) can be visited. Amravati Lake with boating facility is nearby.
Kolkata Airport is 210 km from Digha. Though Contai Road (37 km) is the nearest railway station, Kharagpur and Mechheda on the South Eastern Railway are the convenient railheads.
