Uttarpara is a municipal town in
Hooghly District of
West Bengal and is on the western shore of
Hooghly River. It is situated about 15 km west of downtown
Kolkata.
This 2 km stretch of land has been the focal point of many a path breaking liberal movement in 19th century Bengal, before independence.
Uttarpara is served by metro railway. Nearest airport is at Dum Dum.
