Champawat District




Champawat is a hill district in Uttaranchal, which lies in the region of Kumaon. The geographical area is 1,780 sq km. The main languages are Hindi, Kumaoni and English. The most artistic temple of Champawat is Baleshwar Temple. Some of the important tourist destinations areLohaghat, Devidhura, Meetha Reetha Sahib, Purnagiri Temple, Mayawati Ashram, Abbot Mount, and Vanasur-Ka-Kila Fort. The nearest airport is at Pant Nagar. The convenient railhead is at Tanakpur, 75 km from Champawat town.
