Valmiki Ashram

Valmiki Ashram is located in Baloni, on the banks of the Hindan River.

A spot with religious as well as legendary significance, it is believed to be the ashram of Maharshi Valmiki. As per legends, Sita, the consort of Lord Ram, stayed here and gave birth to Luv and Kush.

The prime attraction is Panchmukhi Shivling (Shivling with five faces). Other highlights: Sita Rasoi (Hindi term for kitchen), Deep Malika Stambha and Sita Kund, a small pond.

Every year, a grand fair is celebrated here to honor Valmiki and to mark the birth of Luv and Kush. Also, a week long festival is held here during the month of Falgun.

Situated on the main Baghpat-Meerut Highway, Valmiki Ashram is 25 km from Baghpat and 30 km from Meerut.
