Samaspur Bird Sanctuary

Samaspur Sanctuary



Situated near Salon in Rae Bareli District, Samaspur Bird Sanctuary lies at about 122 km from Lucknow on Lucknow-Varanasi highway.

It was established in 1987 on about 780 hectare. Over 250 varieties of birds here include local birds such as comb duck, spot bill, spoon bill, kingfisher and vulture, and migratory birds such as greleg googe, pin tail, common teel, vision, showler and surkhab. The lake at Samaspur has more than twelve kinds of fish.

The nearest railway station is at Unchahar and the nearest airport is at Rae Bareli. The best time to visit the Sanctuary is November-March.
