Kanpur Nagar District of Uttar Pradesh occupies an area of 1,065 sq km, with a population of 4.1 million. The district has three tehsils and ten development blocks. The Ganges is the main river.

Kanpur Nagar has manufacturing units of textile and leather products, and perfumes. Besides this, fertilizers, chemicals, two wheelers, soaps, pan masala, hosiery and engineering industries function here.

The ancient monuments at Jajmau, holy ghats, Green Park, Allen Forest Zoo, and temples including Aanandeshwar temple, Siddheshwar temple, Balkhandeshwar temple, and Jageshwar temple are the major tourist attractions.
