Mau District

The Land of the Weavers



Mau District in Uttar Pradesh is bounded by Ghaghra River in the north, Ghazipur District in the south, Ballia District in the east, and Azamgarh District in the west. The population of 1.9 million is distributed over an area of 1,713 sq km.

Mau is situated on the fertile planes of the Ganges - Ghaghra rivers. A majority of the people depend on agriculture. A number of handloom or power loom units are also located here.
