Annapoorna Temple




Annapoorna temple is situated at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The temple is located beside the famous Kasi Vishwanath temple.

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Annapoorna. The deity is the goddess of food and prosperity. She is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the goddess even gave alms to Lord Shiva. It is said that the devotees who worship at this temple will never suffer from hunger in their lives.

There are two idols of the deity in the temple. One idol made of gold is used for worship on very ceremonial occasions once a year, while the other idol made of brass is used for daily worship.
