Agra District is situated in western
, on the banks of the river
. It is bounded by Mathura District
in the north, Firozabad District
in the east, Dhaulpur District
in the south, and Bharatpur District
in the west. It is spread over an area of 4,027 sq km and has a population of 3.6 million.
The major source of economy is agriculture. Wheat, paddy, bajra, mustard and potato are some of the main crops. Over 7200 small scale industrial units are spread all over the district.
Temperatures are in the range 22°- 45°C in summer and 5°- 32°C in winter. The best season for tourists to visit this place is from October to March.

Agra is connected to Delhi,
Khajuraho and Varanasi by air. Agra city is a major railway junction on main broad gauge routes to the south, east and west.
