Lord Agni

A Vedic God of the Hindus in India

Lord Agni is a Vedic God, depicted as God of fire, in the Rig Veda. He is considered as a supreme God, creator, sustainer and all pervading universal spirit. He often acts as a mediator between men and God. Agni is known for his power and mercy. Though he is immortal, he lives among people fulfilling their needs and driving away their difficulties.

Agni is depicted in temples as an old man with a red body. He has seven arms, in which objects like spoon, ladle, and fan are held. He also has seven tongues, four horns, and three legs. He is attended on either side by his two consorts, Svaha and Svadha. Smoke is his sign and ram is his vehicle.
