Srivilliputtur, situated on Madurai- Tenkasi state highway, is 74 km from Madurai. Srivilliputtur is the birth place of Sri Andal, a great poet and saintess of the Bhakti tradition and Periazhwar, saint of the Srivaishnava tradition. A famous temple of Sri Andal is housed here. The best time to visit is during the festivals of Margazhi Thirunal (December-January) and Adi Thirunal (July-August). Thiruvannamalai and Kattalagar temples are nearby. The nearest airport is at Madurai, 70 km away. Srivilliputtur Railway Station is on the Kollam-Virudhunagar rail route. Regular bus services are available from Madurai and Tirunelveli.
