Soliga Tribe




Soliga Tribe is an ethnic tribal group found in the BR (Belirangan) Hills of Yelandur taluk and Kollegal taluk in Karnataka. The word 'Soliga' literally means 'people of the bamboo'. They always live in the forest and depend on it for their livelihood. The tribal members make their living by cultivation, hunting and honey gathering. Today, there are about 20,000 members of this tribe.
