The port town of Cuddalore lies on the Coromandel Coast of southeastern India. The city was colonized by the French in 1758 and later by the British in 1785. During the British rule, Cuddalore was a bustling port. It is the headquarters of Cuddalore District and is located 192 km south of Chennai.
