Trivandrum International Airport is located at Shanghumugham, 7 km from the city of
Thiruvananthapuram, in
Kerala. The longest runway is 10,000 feet in length at an elevation of 14 feet. The current official name of the city is Thiruvananthapuram, but due to its length, the name adopted by the British is still used by most travel organizations.
The airport is well connected to the West Coast of the United States by a combination of Singapore Air and Silk Air, which has direct flights between Thiruvananthapuram and Singapore. Amenities for travelers at the airport are minimal. Passenger facilities such as restaurants, postal services, money exchanges, medical aid and assitance to handicap are available.
