Thengapattinam is a place of historical importance in the
Kanyakumari District of
Tamil Nadu. It is 35 km from
Nagercoil and 54 km from
Kanyakumari.
Coconut trees are found abundant in this place, and the place gets its name from the trees. 'Thenga' means Coconut and 'Patanam' means town. In ancient times, Thengapattinam had trade relations nations in the Middle East. There was direct boat service between Thengapattinam and other foreign towns.
