Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, established in 1990, is a State University located at Abishekapatti, about 9 km away from
Tirunelveli.
Its jurisdiction extends to the three districts of Tiruneveli, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari and has about 61 affiliated colleges, two constituent colleges and 17 departments. Distance education courses are also offered.
