Theni, a beautiful town at the foothills of
Western Ghats in
Theni District, is about 75 km west of
Madurai on
National Highway 49. The town is at the junction point of Madurai-
Kochi and
Dindigul-Cumbum highways. It has the second largest weekly market, next to
Pollachi.
An important tourist place, Theni is surrounded by Kodaikanal, Suruli Falls, Vaigai Dam, Thekkady, Kumbakkarai Falls, Kurangani hill resort and Munnar hill station. It rests on the banks of three rivers, namely, Vaigai, Mullai and Suruliyaru.
The nearest airport is at Madurai.
