Kutba Periya Palli or Big Jamiah Mosque is located at Nainar Street in
Kayalpatnam of Tuticorin District.
Built in 843, this mosque is one of the most important Islamic monuments in south India. The mosque was rebuilt in 1329. The inscriptions inside the mosque denote the year of construction and reconstruction. It is said that more than 25,000 saints were buried in the two graveyards of the Jamiah mosque.
