Kilakarai, a coastal town of historical importance, is located in the southern part of
Tamil Nadu. The town is situated near
Ramanathapuram. In earlier times it was a trade center and ships from different parts came with merchandise and horses.
Kilakarai is surrounded by Ervadi and Sethukkaraiis in western and eastern sides respectively.
Ramanathapuram Railway Station and Madurai Airport are at a distance of 16 km and 125 km from Kilakarai respectively.
