Cauvery River

Kaveri

Cauvery/ Kaveri River is one of the major rivers of southern India. It rises from Brahmagiri Hill in the Western Ghats of Coorg district of Karnataka. The point of origin of this river is the temple at Talakaveri. The Kaveri descends from west to east through the South Indian states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu before draining into the Bay of Bengal. The holiness and the fame of the river have been extolled in Tamil literature. A large number of temple towns are seen along her lower course where she flows round into Tamil Nadu from Karnataka.
