Open-billed Stork



Asian Openbill Stork (Anastomus oscitans) is a large wading bird of about 75 cm in length. It is a broad-winged soaring bird with white plumage, greenish-black scapulars, wings and tail.

Asian Openbill Stork feeds on mollusks, frogs and large insects. It is commonly found in the wetlands. Two to six eggs are laid in stick nests.

Asian Openbill Stork can be seen in the Chitrangudi Bird Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu.
