Siliguri Junction Railway Station




Siliguri Junction Railway Station is one of the main stations in West Bengal. It is managed by the North East Frontier Railways. Situated at the base of the Darjeeling hill areas, the station offers direct train services to Kolkata, Mumbai, Guwahati, Lucknow, Chennai and Delhi. The main train services include Darjeeling Mail, Kamroop Express and Howrah Mail. Toy train services are also offered. Apart from the above services, there is a train of special interest for tourists. It leaves Siliguri every morning to Dooar, the stunningly beautiful valley. Enroute to Dooar, it cuts through several tea gardens, sanctuary, a national park, and tiger reserve. Traversing by toy train from Siliguri to Darjeeling is an unforgettable experience.

The major railhead close to Siliguri junction is Jalpaiguri Railway Station (8 km.) On the way to Darjeeling, the main station next to Siliguri junction is at Kurseong.

From the railway station, it is only a few minutes walk to the West Bengal Tourist Office on Tenzing Norgay Road. A chamber is set up for the tourist information counter at the station. Just behind the station is Tenzing Norgay Central bus terminal. Nearest airfield is Civil Enclave Bagdogra (12 km west of Siliguri.)
