Jhunjhunu is the largest city in the
Shekhawati region and is the headquarters of the
Jhunjhunu District,
Rajasthan. The city was founded by the Kaimkhani Nawabs in the 15th century. Jhunjhunu is the local trade center for wool, cattle, hides and gram. Jhunjhunu is 180 km north of
Jaipur.
Jhunjhunu houses the mausoleum of the saint, Qamar-ud-Din Shah and a 10th century Jaina temple. The city is also adorned with a number of painted havelis. Some of the other major attractions of the city include Khetri Mahal, Bihariji Temple, Modi Haveli and Kaniram Narsinghdas Tiberwala Haveli.
The nearest airport is at Jaipur. Jhunjhunu Railway Station is a major railway station of the
North Western Railways.
