Ramgarh

Ramgarh, a popular tourist destination, is situated 50 km south of Sikar in Rajasthan.

It was founded by the powerful Poddar merchant family in AD 1791, after they left the village of Churu following differences with the Thakurs. Marvelous cenotaphs of the Poddar’s, adorned with exquisite painted ceilings, still exist in the town. Some old temples and beautiful havelis add to its charm.

Places of tourist interest include Ramgopal Poddar Chhatri, Poddar havelis and Shaniji Temple. An excursion to the 10th century Harsh Nath Temple, Khatu Shyam Ji and Lachhmangarh Fort will be an enchanting experience.

October to March constitute the best season to visit this place. Heritage hotel accommodations are available at Mahansar (30 km).

Nearest airport is at Jaipur. Nearest railhead is at Sikar.
