Shergarh




Shergarh is an ancient town located on the banks of Parwan River, in Baran District, Rajasthan. Its origin can be traced back to the 7th century when the Nagvanshi rulers of the Central India chose this place as the seat of their empire.

Over the years, the town had seen many a rules and the settlement derives its name after one of its rulers – Sher Shah Suri - who reigned Shergarh in the early 16th century.

Major attractions of Shergarh are the Shergarh Wildlife Sanctuary and Shergarh Haveli. Atru Village (25 km), Kakuni Temples (30 km) and Gagron Fort constitute interesting excursions outside Shergarh.

Shergarh is situated 130 km south-east of Kota. Nearest airport is at Jaipur. Closest railway stations are at Kota and Baran.
