Bathinda District




Bathinda District (Bathinda is also spelt Bhatinda) in the southern Punjab has a rich cultural and religious heritage. The district is bounded by Faridkot and Muktsar districts in the north and west, Sangrur and Mansa districts in the east and the state of Haryana in the south. The area is 3,401 sq km. Bathinda city is the administrative headquarters.

Bathinda Fort is a well-known landmark. Bathinda is one of the biggest cotton producing regions of India. A big thermal power plant and a fertilizer factory are located here. Major attractions are Quila Mubarak, Gurdwara of Haji Rattan, Takhat Damdama Sahib, Lakhi Jungle, Chetak Park and the Rose Garden.
