Maram Tribe

Maram Tribe is scattered in the 22 villages of the Senapati District, Manipur. The tribe members call themselves, ‘Maram-mei’, meaning the people of Maram. Having a strong resemblance to the Maos, Angami and Koireng, they use the same designs and color combinations of shawls. Marriage from own community is not allowed, in this tribe. So they are intermarried with the Mao, Angami, Zeliangrong, Paomei, Thangal and other Naga groups.
